To help you feel relaxed

Engagement sessions are the perfect way to get used to being in front of the camera with your photographer. You might have met them before you booked and obviously love them and their style already. But getting in front of the camera can really help you to feel relaxed and comfortable around them.

It’s a little rehearsal before your special day, so when it comes to being whisked away for your little private session you already know what to expect. And most photographers will have their own little tricks that will get you smiling and laughing without actually saying the words!

Include the photos in your wedding details

The photos from your engagement shoot can be used later on in your wedding planning. You’re being given some beautiful professional photos, why not use them?

One way could be as ‘save the date’ cards or wedding invitations. There are so many different ideas on Pinterest on how to create these. Also ask your wedding stationery designer, they may have ideas of how to include these in their designs.

Engagement photos can even be used as part of the décor. Use them as your table decorations on the big day itself. They could make a lovely centrepiece, with each table having a different photo from your engagement session.

Date night idea

Use your engagement shoot as a date night! You get to have some quality time with your other-half, away from all the wedding planning. With some beautiful moments captured.

Some photographers might have certain places they use for shoots, but quite often they will ask where you would prefer to have it. You could have it as a trial run at your actual wedding venue. If this is possible it can be perfect for finding the best spots for taking photos on the day.

I always like to ask my couples what they like doing together, what place makes them think of their partner or to even think about where they had their first date. This could give you so many ideas of what to do for your engagement session. You might like walking your dog together. Or maybe your idea of the perfect date is being snuggled up on the sofa with your favourite pizza and gaming. Maybe your first date was to the zoo. The possibilities are endless. If you pick somewhere that means something to you and makes you feel relaxed, you’ll be able to have so much fun with it!
